SFomo’s event listings are also available to AI assistants through MCP (Model Context Protocol), a standard way to plug a data source into a chat app. Once connected, you can ask in plain English, “what's on this weekend?”, and the assistant looks up real, current listings instead of guessing.
https://sfomo.ai/mcp Read-only and public: no account, API key or login. The assistant can search the same events you see on the site and can't change anything.
Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app)
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http sfomo https://sfomo.ai/mcp
Other apps (Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT and others): add a remote / Streamable HTTP MCP server and paste the same link. Menu names vary by app and plan, and some require a developer or paid tier.
Once SFomo is connected, your assistant can build a calendar around what you like and keep it up to date. The prompt and the steps are on their own page: build a custom calendar.
search_events: keyword search. Optional filters: category (ai, dance, dating, entertainment, exercise, music, volunteer), topic (arts, comedy, film, food_drink, markets, sports, talks, classes, outdoors, and more), season (e.g. techweek26), date range, and area (SF only, Bay Area, or anywhere).list_upcoming: everything in the next N days (up to 60), optionally one category or topic.create_custom_calendar: turns a list of interests (each with optional area, days, times and free-only) into subscribe links for a self-updating calendar, with a preview of what it will contain. Each result has title, date, time, location, price, categories, link (the original listing) and a stable id, plus where it came from: sources, first_seen, last_seen and last_fetched (dates). Results also carry data_generated, when the data was last published. Dates are Pacific time.
Reference: coverage and accuracy, openapi.json, changelog, status, and terms (AI agents may use the data with attribution).
SFomo is a work in progress. Questions or sources I'm missing: see the footer on the main page.
